| better-auth before 1.6.13 (and pre-release builds 1.7.0-beta.0 through 1.7.0-beta.3) fail to validate the scheme of redirect_uris registered via the deprecated oidc-provider plugin and the mcp plugin (which wraps the same provider). An attacker can register an OAuth client with a javascript: redirect_uri, which the authorization server later returns unchanged in the consent response. If the deployment's consent page navigates the browser to the returned redirectURI (e.g. assigning it to window.location.href), the attacker's JavaScript executes in the authorization-server origin, exposing the victim's session and enabling account takeover. |
| better-auth versions before 1.4.9 contain a two-factor authentication bypass vulnerability when session.cookieCache is enabled. Attackers with valid primary credentials can access authenticated routes without completing second-factor verification by exploiting premature session caching. |
| better-auth versions >= 1.1.3 and < 1.6.22 (and pre-release versions >= 1.7.0-beta.0 and < 1.7.0-beta.10) are vulnerable to account takeover via pre-account hijacking on magic-link and email-OTP sign-in when open email/password registration is enabled. An attacker registers an account with the victim's email address and an attacker-chosen password; the account remains unverified. When the legitimate owner later signs in via the magic-link or email-OTP passwordless flow, the account is marked verified without removing the pre-existing password or revoking existing sessions, so the attacker's password remains valid, granting persistent access to the victim's account. Fixed in 1.6.22 and 1.7.0-beta.10. |

| Better Auth relies on better-call, which uses the rou3 router library. In affected versions of rou3, paths are normalized by removing empty segments, so /path, //path, and ///path resolve to the same route. In Better Auth versions prior to 1.4.5 (which bundles the fixed rou3), this can allow attackers to bypass disabledPaths configuration and path-based rate limits by submitting requests with extra slashes in the URL path. The issue does not apply in deployments where the proxy or platform normalizes URLs by collapsing multiple slashes. |

| better-auth versions after v0.0.2 and before 1.1.16 contain a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability on the /api/auth/error page, where the value of the 'error' URL parameter is reflected as HTML without proper neutralization. An attacker who coerces a user into visiting a specially-crafted URL can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the user's browser. The issue is fixed in version 1.1.16. |
| better-auth (npm) before 1.4.2 allows an external request to configure baseURL when it is not otherwise defined (e.g., BETTER_AUTH_URL is unset). An attacker able to make the very first request to the server after startup can poison the router's base path, causing all routes to return 404 for all users (denial of service). The issue is not reachable when baseURL is explicitly configured or on typical managed hosting platforms. |

Prior to 1.6.11, the @better-auth/sso plugin's POST /sso/register and POST /sso/update-provider endpoints accept attacker-controlled oidcConfig.userInfoEndpoint, tokenEndpoint, and jwksEndpoint URLs when skipDiscovery: true is set, store them on the ssoProvider row without origin validation, and fetch them during OIDC callback, allowing non-blind server-side request forgery and possible account linking when trustEmailVerified: true is configured. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |

From 1.2.10 until 1.6.11, the @better-auth/sso plugin's POST /sso/register endpoint lets any organization member attach a new SSO provider to that organization because registerSSOProvider checks only for a membership row and does not require an owner or admin role, allowing attacker-controlled OIDC or SAML providers to drive /sso/callback/{providerId} organization provisioning. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |
| Better Auth is an authentication and authorization library for TypeScript. Prior to 1.6.11, and in 1.6.14 and later when invitation IDs can be obtained outside the invited mailbox and requireEmailVerificationOnInvitation: true is not enabled, the organization plugin's acceptInvitation, rejectInvitation, getInvitation, and listUserInvitations recipient endpoints use session.user.email and an invitation ID without sufficient verified-email ownership proof, allowing a user with an unverified session for the invited email address to accept an organization invitation after obtaining the invitation ID. This issue is fixed for the original default behavior in version 1.6.11, while 1.6.14 restored compatibility for built-in opaque invitation IDs and leaves affected configurations requiring secure options. |
| Better Auth is an authentication and authorization library for TypeScript. Prior to 1.6.11, the legacy oidcProvider and mcp plugins expose OAuth token endpoints whose refresh_token grant authenticates only possession of the bound refreshToken row and matching client_id, without verifying the confidential client's client_secret, allowing an attacker with a valid refresh_token to mint access tokens and rotated refresh tokens through /api/auth/oauth2/token or /api/auth/mcp/token. The @better-auth/oauth-provider package is not affected. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |
| Better Auth is an authentication and authorization library for TypeScript. Prior to 1.6.11, Better Auth's OAuth callback auto-link gate in handleOAuthUserInfo accepts implicit account linking when the OAuth provider asserts email_verified: true without requiring the local user row's emailVerified field to also be true, allowing an attacker who pre-registers a victim email through /sign-up/email to bind the victim's OAuth identity to the attacker's account. The same primitive affects one-tap, and emailAndPassword.requireEmailVerification: true does not mitigate the link-time verification change. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |

This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |

From 1.6.0 until 1.6.11, the deviceAuthorization plugin treats any authenticated session as the owner of any pending device code because GET /device does not claim the row and POST /device/approve and POST /device/deny short-circuit when userId is unset, allowing an authenticated attacker who learns a valid user_code to bind the polling device to the attacker's account or deny the legitimate flow. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |

From 1.4.8-beta.7 until 1.6.11, the @better-auth/oauth-provider POST /oauth2/token endpoint on the refresh_token grant performs a non-atomic read, validate, revoke, and mint sequence on the oauthRefreshToken row, allowing concurrent requests with the same parent refresh token to pass the revoked check and create forked refresh-token families; the vulnerable range also includes embedded better-auth plugin versions before 1.6.0. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.11. |
| Better Auth is an authentication and authorization library for TypeScript. Prior to 1.4.17 and 1.5.0-beta.9, Better Auth's HTTP rate limiter keyed each request by the exact textual IP address it received in x-forwarded-for (or the configured IP-bearing header). IPv6 clients controlling a typical /64 allocation could rotate through 2^64 distinct source addresses without exhausting the per-address counter, defeating rate limiting on /sign-in/email, /sign-up/email, /forget-password, and every other path the limiter protects. The same bug allowed a single client to vary the textual encoding of one IPv6 address (uppercase, compression, IPv4-mapped, hex-encoded IPv4-in-IPv6) and produce multiple distinct keys. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.17 and 1.5.0-beta.9. |
| Better Auth is an authentication and authorization library for TypeScript. Prior to 1.6.5, the clientPrivileges option documents a create action, but the OAuth client creation endpoints did not invoke the hook before persisting new clients. Deployments that configured clientPrivileges to restrict client registration were not actually restricted — any authenticated user could reach the create endpoints and register an OAuth client with attacker-chosen redirect URIs and metadata. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.6.5. |
