| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/ipv6: avoid possible UAF in ip6_route_mpath_notify()
syzbot found another use-after-free in ip6_route_mpath_notify() [1]
Commit f7225172f25a ("net/ipv6: prevent use after free in
ip6_route_mpath_notify") was not able to fix the root cause.
We need to defer the fib6_info_release() calls after
ip6_route_mpath_notify(), in the cleanup phase.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
hv_netvsc: Register VF in netvsc_probe if NET_DEVICE_REGISTER missed
If hv_netvsc driver is unloaded and reloaded, the NET_DEVICE_REGISTER
handler cannot perform VF register successfully as the register call
is received before netvsc_probe is finished. This is because we
register register_netdevice_notifier() very early( even before
vmbus_driver_register()).
To fix this, we try to register each such matching VF( if it is visible
as a netdevice) at the end of netvsc_probe. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
x86, relocs: Ignore relocations in .notes section
When building with CONFIG_XEN_PV=y, .text symbols are emitted into
the .notes section so that Xen can find the "startup_xen" entry point.
This information is used prior to booting the kernel, so relocations
are not useful. In fact, performing relocations against the .notes
section means that the KASLR base is exposed since /sys/kernel/notes
is world-readable.
To avoid leaking the KASLR base without breaking unprivileged tools that
are expecting to read /sys/kernel/notes, skip performing relocations in
the .notes section. The values readable in .notes are then identical to
those found in System.map. |

DMA API debug brings to light leaking dma-mappings as dma_map_sg and
dma_unmap_sg are not correctly balanced.
If an error occurs in mmci_cmd_irq function, only mmci_dma_error
function is called and as this API is not managed on stm32 variant,
dma_unmap_sg is never called in this error path. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: allow exp not to be removed in nf_ct_find_expectation
Currently nf_conntrack_in() calling nf_ct_find_expectation() will
remove the exp from the hash table. However, in some scenario, we
expect the exp not to be removed when the created ct will not be
confirmed, like in OVS and TC conntrack in the following patches.
This patch allows exp not to be removed by setting IPS_CONFIRMED
in the status of the tmpl. |
| In ssh in OpenSSH before 9.6, OS command injection might occur if a user name or host name has shell metacharacters, and this name is referenced by an expansion token in certain situations. For example, an untrusted Git repository can have a submodule with shell metacharacters in a user name or host name. |
| A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ipv4: igmp component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation.
A race condition can be exploited to cause a timer be mistakenly registered on a RCU read locked object which is freed by another thread.
We recommend upgrading past commit e2b706c691905fe78468c361aaabc719d0a496f1. |
| A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Performance Events system component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation.
A perf_event's read_size can overflow, leading to an heap out-of-bounds increment or write in perf_read_group().
We recommend upgrading past commit 382c27f4ed28f803b1f1473ac2d8db0afc795a1b. |
| Issue summary: A bug has been identified in the processing of key and
initialisation vector (IV) lengths. This can lead to potential truncation
or overruns during the initialisation of some symmetric ciphers.
Impact summary: A truncation in the IV can result in non-uniqueness,
which could result in loss of confidentiality for some cipher modes.
When calling EVP_EncryptInit_ex2(), EVP_DecryptInit_ex2() or
EVP_CipherInit_ex2() the provided OSSL_PARAM array is processed after
the key and IV have been established. Any alterations to the key length,
via the "keylen" parameter or the IV length, via the "ivlen" parameter,
within the OSSL_PARAM array will not take effect as intended, potentially
causing truncation or overreading of these values. The following ciphers
and cipher modes are impacted: RC2, RC4, RC5, CCM, GCM and OCB.
For the CCM, GCM and OCB cipher modes, truncation of the IV can result in
loss of confidentiality. For example, when following NIST's SP 800-38D
section 8.2.1 guidance for constructing a deterministic IV for AES in
GCM mode, truncation of the counter portion could lead to IV reuse.
Both truncations and overruns of the key and overruns of the IV will
produce incorrect results and could, in some cases, trigger a memory
exception. However, these issues are not currently assessed as security
critical.
Changing the key and/or IV lengths is not considered to be a common operation
and the vulnerable API was recently introduced. Furthermore it is likely that
application developers will have spotted this problem during testing since
decryption would fail unless both peers in the communication were similarly
vulnerable. For these reasons we expect the probability of an application being
vulnerable to this to be quite low. However if an application is vulnerable then
this issue is considered very serious. For these reasons we have assessed this
issue as Moderate severity overall.
The OpenSSL SSL/TLS implementation is not affected by this issue.
The OpenSSL 3.0 and 3.1 FIPS providers are not affected by this because
the issue lies outside of the FIPS provider boundary.
OpenSSL 3.1 and 3.0 are vulnerable to this issue. |
| The SSH transport protocol with certain OpenSSH extensions, found in OpenSSH before 9.6 and other products, allows remote attackers to bypass integrity checks such that some packets are omitted (from the extension negotiation message), and a client and server may consequently end up with a connection for which some security features have been downgraded or disabled, aka a Terrapin attack. This occurs because the SSH Binary Packet Protocol (BPP), implemented by these extensions, mishandles the handshake phase and mishandles use of sequence numbers. For example, there is an effective attack against SSH's use of ChaCha20-Poly1305 (and CBC with Encrypt-then-MAC). The bypass occurs in chacha20-poly1305@openssh.com and (if CBC is used) the -etm@openssh.com MAC algorithms. | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: typec: displayport: Fix potential deadlock
The deadlock can occur due to a recursive lock acquisition of
`cros_typec_altmode_data::mutex`.
The call chain is as follows:
1. cros_typec_altmode_work() acquires the mutex
2. typec_altmode_vdm() -> dp_altmode_vdm() ->
3. typec_altmode_exit() -> cros_typec_altmode_exit()
4. cros_typec_altmode_exit() attempts to acquire the mutex again
To prevent this, defer the `typec_altmode_exit()` call by scheduling
it rather than calling it directly from within the mutex-protected
context. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sch_htb: make htb_deactivate() idempotent
Alan reported a NULL pointer dereference in htb_next_rb_node()
after we made htb_qlen_notify() idempotent.
It turns out in the following case it introduced some regression:
htb_dequeue_tree():
|-> fq_codel_dequeue()
|-> qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog()
|-> htb_qlen_notify()
|-> htb_deactivate()
|-> htb_next_rb_node()
|-> htb_deactivate()
For htb_next_rb_node(), after calling the 1st htb_deactivate(), the
clprio[prio]->ptr could be already set to NULL, which means
htb_next_rb_node() is vulnerable here.
For htb_deactivate(), although we checked qlen before calling it, in
case of qlen==0 after qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog(), we may call it again
which triggers the warning inside.
To fix the issues here, we need to:
1) Make htb_deactivate() idempotent, that is, simply return if we
already call it before.
2) Make htb_next_rb_node() safe against ptr==NULL.
Many thanks to Alan for testing and for the reproducer. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: gadget: ncm: Fix handling of zero block length packets
While connecting to a Linux host with CDC_NCM_NTB_DEF_SIZE_TX
set to 65536, it has been observed that we receive short packets,
which come at interval of 5-10 seconds sometimes and have block
length zero but still contain 1-2 valid datagrams present.
According to the NCM spec:
"If wBlockLength = 0x0000, the block is terminated by a
short packet. In this case, the USB transfer must still
be shorter than dwNtbInMaxSize or dwNtbOutMaxSize. If
exactly dwNtbInMaxSize or dwNtbOutMaxSize bytes are sent,
and the size is a multiple of wMaxPacketSize for the
given pipe, then no ZLP shall be sent.
wBlockLength= 0x0000 must be used with extreme care, because
of the possibility that the host and device may get out of
sync, and because of test issues.
wBlockLength = 0x0000 allows the sender to reduce latency by
starting to send a very large NTB, and then shortening it when
the sender discovers that there’s not sufficient data to justify
sending a large NTB"
However, there is a potential issue with the current implementation,
as it checks for the occurrence of multiple NTBs in a single
giveback by verifying if the leftover bytes to be processed is zero
or not. If the block length reads zero, we would process the same
NTB infintely because the leftover bytes is never zero and it leads
to a crash. Fix this by bailing out if block length reads zero. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drivers: media: dvb-frontends/rtl2832: fix an out-of-bounds write error
Ensure index in rtl2832_pid_filter does not exceed 31 to prevent
out-of-bounds access.
dev->filters is a 32-bit value, so set_bit and clear_bit functions should
only operate on indices from 0 to 31. If index is 32, it will attempt to
access a non-existent 33rd bit, leading to out-of-bounds access.
Change the boundary check from index > 32 to index >= 32 to resolve this
issue.

KVM: x86: Acquire kvm->srcu when handling KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS
Grab kvm->srcu when processing KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS, as KVM will forcibly
leave nested VMX/SVM if SMM mode is being toggled, and leaving nested VMX
reads guest memory.
Note, kvm_vcpu_ioctl_x86_set_vcpu_events() can also be called from KVM_RUN
via sync_regs(), which already holds SRCU. I.e. trying to precisely use
kvm_vcpu_srcu_read_lock() around the problematic SMM code would cause
problems. Acquiring SRCU isn't all that expensive, so for simplicity,
grab it unconditionally for KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS.
