CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/dp/mst: fix buffer overflows in sideband chunk accumulation
drm_dp_sideband_append_payload() has three related bugs when processing
device-provided sideband reply data:
1. Zero-length curchunk_len underflow: msg_len is a 6-bit field taken
directly from the DP sideband header. If a device sends msg_len=0,
curchunk_len is set to zero. The condition (curchunk_idx >= curchunk_len)
is immediately true, and curchunk_len-1 wraps to 255 (u8 underflow).
drm_dp_msg_data_crc4() reads 255 bytes from chunk[48], then memcpy()
writes 255 bytes into msg[], both far out of bounds.
2. chunk[48] overflow: curchunk_len can reach 63 (6-bit field). chunk[] is
only 48 bytes. Multi-iteration payload assembly appends 16-byte blocks
until curchunk_idx reaches curchunk_len, writing up to 15 bytes past
the end of chunk[] into msg[].
3. msg[256] overflow: each chunk contributes (curchunk_len-1) bytes to
msg[]. No check ensures curlen + (curchunk_len-1) stays within msg[256],
so the memcpy can spill into adjacent struct fields.
All three are reachable from any DP MST device that can forge sideband
reply messages on a physical connection. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: firewire: isight: bound the sample count to the packet payload
isight_packet() takes the frame count from the device iso packet and
checks it only against the device claimed iso length.
count = be32_to_cpu(payload->sample_count);
if (likely(count <= (length - 16) / 4))
isight_samples(isight, payload->samples, count);
length is the iso header data_length. It can be up to 0xffff. So the
gate allows a count up to about 16379. isight_samples() then copies
count frames out of payload->samples into the PCM DMA buffer.
payload->samples holds only 2 * MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET values. The
device multiplexes two samples per frame. A count past
MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET reads past the payload. A count past the buffer
size writes past runtime->dma_area. The smallest PCM buffer is larger
than MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET. Bounding the count to MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET
keeps both the read and the write in range.
A malicious or faulty Apple iSight on the FireWire bus reaches this
during a normal capture.
Add the MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET bound to the gate. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
staging: rtl8723bs: fix heap buffer overflow in rtw_cfg80211_set_wpa_ie()
supplicant_ie is a 256-byte array in struct security_priv. The WPA and
WPA2 IE copy paths use:
memcpy(padapter->securitypriv.supplicant_ie, &pwpa[0], wpa_ielen + 2);
where wpa_ielen is the raw IE length field (u8, 0-255). When a local user
supplies a connect request via nl80211 with a crafted WPA IE of length 255,
wpa_ielen + 2 equals 257, overflowing the 256-byte buffer by one byte into
the adjacent last_mic_err_time field.
rtw_parse_wpa_ie() does not prevent this: its length consistency check
compares *(wpa_ie+1) against (u8)(wpa_ie_len-2), which is (u8)(255) == 255
when wpa_ie_len = 257, so the check passes silently.
Add explicit bounds checks for both the WPA and WPA2 paths before the
memcpy, rejecting any IE whose total size (wpa_ielen + 2) exceeds the
supplicant_ie buffer. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
USB: serial: io_ti: fix heap overflow in build_i2c_fw_hdr()
build_i2c_fw_hdr() allocates a fixed-size buffer of
(16*1024 - 512) + sizeof(struct ti_i2c_firmware_rec) bytes, then
copies le16_to_cpu(img_header->Length) bytes into it without
validating that Length fits within the available space after the
firmware record header.
img_header->Length is a __le16 from the firmware file and can be
up to 65535. check_fw_sanity() validates the total firmware size
but not img_header->Length specifically.
Fix by rejecting images where img_header->Length exceeds the
available destination space. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Clamp HDMI HDCP2 rx_id_list read to buffer size
[Why & How]
During HDCP 2.x repeater authentication over HDMI, the driver reads the
sink's RxStatus register and extracts a 10-bit message size field (max
value 1023). This value is used as the read length for the ReceiverID
list without being clamped to the size of the destination buffer
rx_id_list[177]. A malicious HDMI repeater could advertise a message
size larger than the buffer, causing an out-of-bounds write during the
I2C read.
Clamp the read length in mod_hdcp_read_rx_id_list() to the size of the
rx_id_list buffer, matching the approach already used in the DP branch.

| ASN1SCC is an open source ASN.1 compiler for embedded systems. Prior to 4.7.0.1, the XER tokenizer NT() in asn1crt/asn1crt_encoding_xer.c, which is reached by all XER decode paths, copies tag characters into a fixed char Value[100] field without a length bound and reads input and lookahead bytes without checking the buffer count. A crafted XER message with an overlong tag can overwrite the tokenizer's stack frame, while a truncated tag or unterminated processing-instruction or comment sequence can read beyond the input and may cause a CPU spin. The flaws can disclose adjacent memory, corrupt stack data, crash or hang the decoder, and potentially permit code execution. This issue is fixed in version 4.7.0.1. |
| eBook-speaker 6.1.0 through 6.2.0 contains a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in get_attributes() in src/common.c caused by an unbounded strcpy of an element's name attribute. Attackers can craft an EPUB or DAISY book with a name attribute of 511 or more characters to corrupt the stack and crash the reader when opened. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: MGMT: validate LTK enc_size on load
Load Long Term Keys stores the user-provided enc_size and later uses
it to size fixed-size stack operations when replying to LE LTK
requests. An enc_size larger than the 16-byte key buffer can therefore
overflow the reply stack buffer.
Reject oversized enc_size values while validating the management LTK
record so invalid keys never reach the stored key state. |
| A vulnerability was found in the pkcs15-init tool in OpenSC. An attacker could use a crafted USB Device or Smart Card, which would present the system with a specially crafted response to APDUs. When buffers are partially filled with data, initialized parts of the buffer can be incorrectly accessed. |
| A vulnerability was found in OpenSC, OpenSC tools, PKCS#11 module, minidriver, and CTK. An attacker could use a crafted USB Device or Smart Card, which would present the system with a specially crafted response to APDUs. When buffers are partially filled with data, initialized parts of the buffer can be incorrectly accessed. |
| A flaw was found in the file-psd plugin in GIMP. When processing a specially crafted PSD image file, the plugin does not properly validate the channel-count parameter. This incorrect validation leads to improper memory bounds checking, resulting in both a heap out-of-bounds read and a stack out-of-bounds access. This issue can result in an application crash, leading to a denial of service or a limited information disclosure of memory contents. |
| A flaw was found in file-roller. When opening or extracting a malicious 7z or RAR archive containing a file entry with an excessively long path, file-roller's progress-line parsing copies the path into a fixed-size stack buffer using an unbounded string copy. This can trigger a stack buffer overflow and cause file-roller to terminate, resulting in a denial of service. To exploit this flaw, a victim must open or extract the crafted archive using file-roller. |
| A flaw was found in pppd. A remote attacker could exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability in the PEAP response handling. By sending a specially crafted PEAP Request packet, an attacker could cause the pppd process to corrupt global static data, leading to incorrect behavior or a system crash. |
| A flaw was found in GIMP's file-png plugin. A remote attacker can exploit this by crafting a malicious Animated Portable Network Graphics (APNG) image containing an oversized tRNS chunk. This can lead to a stack-based buffer overflow (CWE-121), causing the file-png plugin to crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the user. |
| A flaw was found in virtio-win. The `RhelDoUnMap()` function does not properly validate the number of descriptors provided by a user during an unmap request. A local user could exploit this input validation vulnerability by supplying an excessive number of descriptors, leading to a buffer overrun. This can cause a system crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). |
| A flaw was found in Open vSwitch. When Open vSwitch is configured with a conntrack flow using FTP helpers over the userspace datapath, a remote attacker can send a specially crafted FTP stream with an EPASV command exceeding 255 characters. This heap access error can lead to a crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected system. |
| NEURON (CoreNEURON) through 9.0.2 contains a stack buffer overflow vulnerability that allows attackers to corrupt stack memory by supplying over-long tokens in a crafted model dataset. Attackers can place oversized version or mechanism-name tokens in bbcore_mech.dat, globals.dat, or files.dat loaded by nrniv-core to crash the process. |
| In setTo of ResourceTypes.cpp, there is a possible read out of bounds due to an incorrect bounds check. This could lead to local information disclosure with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. |
| In multiple functions of NotificationChannel.java, there is a possible desync in persistence due to an incorrect bounds check. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. |
| A heap buffer overflow in handling GLX
RenderLarge request where dataBytes exceeds cmdlen in X.org X server before 21.1.25 and XWayland before 24.1.14 that could be be triggered by an authenticated X client could cause crashes or code execution in X server context. |
