| Use after free in Skia in Google Chrome prior to 151.0.7922.109 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to execute arbitrary code inside a sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) |
| Redis before 8.8.0, in the unusual case where an authenticated attacker can execute RESTORE, allows remote code execution via a RESTORE payload where the same NACK (pending entry) is referenced by more than one consumer, because deleting both consumers via XGROUP DELCONSUMER leads to a double free. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-25243. |
| The Zephyr net_buf library (lib/net_buf/buf.c) manipulated both of its reference counts -- the per-header buf->ref and the per-data-block ref_count at the start of each variable/heap data allocation -- with plain non-atomic C operators (buf->ref++, if (--buf->ref > 0), if (--(*ref_count))).
The API is documented as self-synchronizing: callers may share one buffer across threads (e.g. via k_fifo) and each holder independently calls net_buf_unref() with no surrounding lock. Under true concurrency (SMP, or single-core preemption between the non-atomic load and store while another context unrefs the same buffer), two holders can both observe the same prior reference value and both conclude they are the last reference.
For heap/variable-data pools (mem_pool_data_unref/heap_data_unref, used by zbus message subscribers, the IP stack RX/TX buffers when CONFIG_NET_BUF_FIXED_DATA_SIZE=n, capture, wireguard, ISO-TP and usbip) this produces a double k_heap_free()/k_free() of the same block -- heap-metadata corruption and a use-after-free on the heap-hardening poison pattern.
For the per-header refcount the buffer is returned to the pool free LIFO twice for any pool type (including fixed-data pools used by Bluetooth and networking), corrupting the free list so a later allocation hands the same buffer to two owners.
The fix converts both refcounts to atomic_inc/atomic_dec (overlaying buf->ref in an atomic_t-sized union and changing the data-block refcount from uint8_t to atomic_t).
Impact is gated on genuine concurrency and on an application architecture that shares one buffer among multiple independent unref'ers; the trigger is a refcount/timing race rather than packet content, so an external attacker has at most weak indirect influence over the race window. Affects all Zephyr releases through v4.4.0.
This fix is not being backported to v3.7-branch (LTS). The backport was attempted and closed unmerged (#111181): the v3.7 networking tree has diverged from main, and the new atomic word-packing -- together with the assertions it adds -- turns pre-existing v3.7-only reference-counting defects elsewhere in the stack into hard faults, so landing the change faithfully would mean pulling an open-ended set of additional v3.7-only fixes into an LTS branch. v3.7 remains affected. Applications on v3.7 that share one net_buf across threads should serialize their own net_buf_unref() calls rather than rely on the documented self-synchronizing behaviour. The fix is on main and has been backported to v4.3-branch (#110852) and v4.4-branch (#110853). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
HID: hid-lenovo-go: cancel cfg_setup work in hid_go_cfg_remove()
hid_go_cfg_probe() initialises drvdata.go_cfg_setup and schedules it
to run 2 ms later:
INIT_DELAYED_WORK(&drvdata.go_cfg_setup, &cfg_setup);
schedule_delayed_work(&drvdata.go_cfg_setup, msecs_to_jiffies(2));
cfg_setup() dereferences drvdata.hdev to issue MCU command requests.
hid_go_cfg_remove() tears down sysfs and stops the HID device, but
never drains the delayed work. If the device is unbound within the
2 ms scheduling delay (a probe failure rolling back via remove, or a
fast rmmod after probe), the work fires after hid_destroy_device()
has dropped its reference and released the underlying hdev struct,
leaving cfg_setup() with a stale drvdata.hdev pointer.
Mirror the sibling driver hid-lenovo-go-s.c, whose hid_gos_cfg_remove()
already calls cancel_delayed_work_sync() on its analogous work, and
drain go_cfg_setup at the top of hid_go_cfg_remove(). The cancel
must come before guard(mutex)(&drvdata.cfg_mutex) because cfg_setup()
acquires that mutex; reversing the order would deadlock. |

| A flaw in Node.js HTTP/2 handling allows `nghttp2_session_mem_send()` to be called re-entrantly while `nghttp2_session_mem_recv()` is executing, resulting in a heap-use-after-free.
This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**, **24.x**, and **22.x**. |

nvme: fix admin request_queue lifetime
The namespaces can access the controller's admin request_queue, and
stale references on the namespaces may exist after tearing down the
controller. Ensure the admin request_queue is active by moving the
controller's 'put' to after all controller references have been released
to ensure no one is can access the request_queue. This fixes a reported
use-after-free bug:

usb: xhci: Fix sleep in atomic context in xhci_free_streams()
When a USB device with active stream endpoints is disconnected,
xhci_free_streams() is called from the hub_event workqueue to
free the stream resources. It calls xhci_free_stream_info()
while holding xhci->lock with irqs disabled.
xhci_free_stream_info() invokes xhci_free_stream_ctx(), which
calls dma_free_coherent() for large stream context arrays.
dma_free_coherent() can sleep (e.g. via vunmap), triggering
a BUG when called from atomic context.

netfilter: bridge: fix stale prevhdr pointer in br_ip6_fragment()
br_ip6_fragment() gets prevhdr, a pointer into the skb head, from
ip6_find_1stfragopt(), then calls skb_checksum_help(). For a cloned skb
skb_checksum_help() reallocates the head via pskb_expand_head(), leaving
prevhdr dangling. It is later dereferenced in ip6_frag_next(), causing a
use-after-free write.
Save prevhdr's offset before skb_checksum_help() and recompute it after,
like commit ef0efcd3bd3f ("ipv6: Fix dangling pointer when ipv6
fragment").

smb: client: fix double-free in SMB2_ioctl() replay
A response-bearing attempt can return a replayable error and free its
response buffer. If SMB2_ioctl_init() fails before the next send, cleanup
retains the previous buffer type and frees that response again.
Reset response bookkeeping before each attempt to prevent the stale free. |
| Use-after-free (UAF) was possible in the `lzma.LZMADecompressor`, `bz2.BZ2Decompressor`, and `gzip.GzipFile` when a memory allocation fails with a `MemoryError` and the decompression instance is re-used. This scenario can be triggered if the process is under memory pressure. The fix cleans up the dangling pointer in this specific error condition.
The vulnerability is only present if the program re-uses decompressor instances across multiple decompression calls even after a `MemoryError` is raised during decompression. Using the helper functions to one-shot decompress data such as `lzma.decompress()`, `bz2.decompress()`, `gzip.decompress()`, and `zlib.decompress()` are not affected as a new decompressor instance is used per call. If the decompressor instance is not re-used after an error condition, this usage is similarly not vulnerable. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: track the connection owning a byte-range lock
SMB2_LOCK adds each granted byte-range lock to both the file lock list
and the lock list of the connection which handled the request. The
final close and durable handle paths, however, remove the connection
list entry while holding fp->conn->llist_lock.
With SMB3 multichannel, the connection handling the LOCK request can be
different from the connection which opened the file. The entry can
therefore be removed under a different spinlock from the one protecting
the list it belongs to. A concurrent traversal can then access freed
struct ksmbd_lock and struct file_lock objects.
Record the connection owning each lock's clist entry and hold a
reference to it while the entry is linked. Use that connection and its
llist_lock for unlock, rollback, close, and durable preserve. Durable
reconnect assigns the new connection as the owner when publishing the
locks again. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ALSA: usb-audio: avoid kobject path lookup in DualSense match
The DualSense jack-detection input handler verifies that a matching input
device belongs to the same physical controller by building kobject path
strings for both the input device and the USB audio device, then comparing
the path prefix.
This was observed when a weak physical connection caused the controller
to rapidly disconnect and reconnect. During that repeated hotplug,
snd_dualsense_ih_match() can run while the controller's USB device is
being disconnected. kobject_get_path() walks ancestor kobjects and
dereferences their names; if the USB device kobject name is no longer
valid, this can fault in strlen():
RIP: 0010:strlen+0x10/0x30
Call Trace:

ps_probe+0xb89/0x1590 [hid_playstation]
The same ownership check can be done without building kobject path
strings. The input device is parented below the HID device, USB interface
and USB device, so walking the input device parent chain and comparing
against the mixer USB device preserves the check without dereferencing
kobject names during disconnect. |

| A use-after-free flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland in miSyncDestroyFence(). A client that sets up multiple fence triggers can trigger a use-after-free function pointer call. An attacker would connect to the X server to set up a fence and await that fence, then a second X connection destroys the fence, causing the use-after-free. This may be used to crash the server, or for privilege escalation if the X server runs as root. |
| A use-after-free flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland in SyncChangeCounter().
